Whitbread PLC is the UK's largest hotel and restaurant company operating businesses in the budget hotels and restaurant sectors. Its brands include Premier Inn, Beefeater, Table Table, Brewers Fayre, Taybarns and Costa Coffee.

In the financial year ending 28th February 2008, Whitbread PLC reported an 11.3% increase in Group Revenue to £1.18 billion and 26.3% increase in Pre-tax Profit to £210.3 million.

Whitbread enters £36.65 million sale and leaseback agreement with M&G Investments

Hotel and restaurant group and FTSE 100 constituent Whitbread (LSE: WTB) has sold five properties operating as Premier Inn to M&G Investments (LSE: MEQI), also entering a leaseback agreement to operate them for 25 years for a total consideration of £36.65 million in cash, which will represent an initial yield of 5.5%.

The company said it was using its property as an alternative source of funding for its new developments.
The deal is expected to be completed in January 2010.
